Jobs:
Development Director
Starting Date:
ASAP
Deadline: Oct.
29, 1999
Web Lab develops,
supports, and champions innovative uses of the Web as a powerful new
tool for engaging the public in explorations of contemporary issues.
Among Web Lab's programs and initiatives are the Web Development Fund,
which provides financial support and visibility for creative Web projects;
development of new sites, either on its own or in partnership with other
organizations; and building a "community of practice" among people who
want to increase the positive social impact of the Web.
Web Lab's efforts
have already attracted remarkable levels of public participation and
media attention, from the more than 500 teams and individuals submitting
proposals in September 1997 for the first round of the Web Development
Fund, to the enthusiastic coverage in The New York Times, Wired News,
Yahoo Internet Life, Salon, and the MSNBC Web site, to the willingness
of the hottest high-end media companies to offer highly discounted services
for a chance to design Web Lab sites.
A program of the
NY Foundation for the Arts, Web Lab is supported by grants from the
Ford Foundation, PBS Online and private foundations. This position offers
