Due to the nature of the work, the abuse, long hours, sometimes thankless efforts, it is considered to be a low end job and treated that way. I have met many people who wanted to pickup part time work, performed the waitressing jobs. We, as a country eat out at restaurants more than anyone else in the world, but the servers are treated ugly. I wonder if all the waitresses went on strike, what the people would do...cater the food? ha! dont think so for very long!
