Corporate America

Corporate America sucks!!! In the last couple of months, I've seen more crap take place at my job than I've ever seen anywhere else.

Where else can you be fired by just mentioning that you might consider going back to school to get and education?

Where else can you be put into an supervisory position and your only purpose is to act as a shield or a referee between management and the employees?

Only in Corporate America!!

Currently, I work for the world's largest web hosting company. I still work at that company but I don't work "for the company" anymore. Now, in addition to working fo the bill collectors, I work for the investors, and the shareholders. I'm not an investor. I was never given any stock options. Just me and my lowly 401(k).

Here's my story:

I work for the world's largest web hosting company located in Boca Raton, FL. Our company has been around since about 1996. We started in a garage with a server and 100 web hosting clients. Now we have 60,000 clients and over 50 servers. Things are going great. We've just announced our planned IPO and a week before we go public, someone makes a offer that we supposedly, "could not refuse". We sold the company for 350 million dollars. Some may call it a merger. Some may even call it a reverse merger, whatever the hell that is. But a sell-out is a sell-out.

When you work on a project, you're working towards a goal. You're working on something that can contribute to the "big picture". So you give your blood, sweat and tears until you've made your mark. The road might not be smooth but you know that you're making progress. You're not a quitter.

So why in the hell did we sell the company when we were the ones in the lead? I'll never know.

Corporate America sucks, and from this day forward, I've lost all faith in our system of life.
