Given the rural area that I live in and the fact that there are few local jobs, plus the need to pay for my online education, there is little to do about it at the moment. Nobody will talk union because they are afraid of losing their jobs(ooh, big loss). My question to you, moderator, is making workers work seven days a week for long periods of time legal?

: I'm in real angry mood, I guess. But I want to understand! Please help me! Why does anyone put up with this?
: : My employer has been making us work seven days a week since the end of June, with only two days off for Labor Day. When questioned on this practice, they sais it was legal due to the "seasonal" nature of our production schedule. This year, the overtime has been more excessive than any time in the past and I believe that we are no longer a seasonal operation. Does anyone have any information regarding the legality of mandatory seven day work weeks and how many days in a row we can be required to work before we are given a day off. I know that they can make us work 12 hour days as long as we are paid the proper overtime rates, but it doesn't seem like it would be legal to require us to work every day for half of a year.
: : Help!
