: i have been working as a supervisor for ten years for a south florida muncipality..internal auditors came in and said that i was working to many hours overtime and that i should be paid or given comp.time in lieu of the monies.this information was put into the auditors report..two years have passed and no has mentioned it to me again..can i sue?

I read the others advice. Do Not raise hell. Do not, as one no life, no brain buffoon who has never worked for a local government advised, conduct sabotage. If you are not an exempt employee by Federal law or municipal work rule or ordinance. Which i thing you are not exempt then you should reference the auditors report and ask your boss for the compensatory time at the time and a half rate for the hours you are owed. If your supervisor or chief authority refuses then you can go the the Department of Labor wage and hour division and ask how file a complaint. If you are civil service or have a "real grievance procedure terminating in real arbitration" to which you should have filed a grievance however depending on the rules since your claim may be a continuing violation without a time limit for challenge per se you may be able to file a grievance. Raising hell would only bring hell on you. Just pursuing your claim peacefully could bring hell on you. Best advice is to consult with an attorney knowledgable in labor law. I dont know who these moderators or other ppl in here are but they dont appear to be purveyors of good advice.
