: After going to an interview for a 2 month job, and doing well, I was offered the job. When I was told about the pay, I was a bit disappointed, as it seemed a really tough job, and I had worked for them previously for much more. I told the HR Manager I would take the job, but I wasn't pleased with the pay. She rang me back 10 minutes later with a 20% raise!

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. I was offered a job and they tried to lowball me on the salary. I had determined beforehand how much I needed to be paid in order to make the job worthwhile and told them that their offer was too low. They offered more money before I even left the room. The important thing to remember is that employers usually have a range they can pay for a certain job and they'll usually start at the low end and work their way up. Don't accept the first offer!
