new title

This may seem like a small thing, but I was working at a small newspaper on the east coast, doing all kinds of editing, yet my title was writer. I told my boss that I didn't think that my title matched my job. I told him I wanted the title of associate editor. He said fine and right there, I was promoted. I didn't get any more money, but now when I'm job hunting, I can say I was associate editor of the paper, rather than simply a writer. If you work for a smallish organization, you could probably get a new, more prestigious title too!
