: : Marian,
: : All of us have known how hard waitressing is, has been, and will be. Due to the nature of the work, the abuse, long hours, sometimes thankless efforts, it is considered to be a low end job and treated that way. I have met many people who wanted to pickup part time work, performed the waitressing jobs. We, as a country eat out at restaurants more than anyone else in the world, but the servers are treated ugly. I wonder if all the waitresses went on strike, what the people would do...cater the food? ha! dont think so for very long! Thanks for your help Marian.

: :
: : : I know my sister waitresses have stories to tell, angst to vent---How is it this is practically the only "profession" that is not addressed on this site? I am looking for anecdotes, experiences, gripes, etc to compose a "tell-all" Anyone?

: am writing an aarticle on how to survuve being a student supporting yourself on waitressing. would appreciate any tips, tales and any other info.

hI THERE,
So delighted to see that there are so many pages on waitressing.I am putting myself through college by waitressing.I work straight after college in the student bar-waitressing.And weekends in my home town. I really enjoy the work and alot of people will complain about the long hours and the abuse that you suffer from ignorant customers that you ,must agree we all have come across. But my advice is to grin and bear it.I think that is what annoys those annoying customers the most.If they are rude , they expect you to sulk and be quiet ignorant to them , whereas if you give them your million dollar smile and say"i'll sort that out".You are portraying yourself as a very mature and experienced person who is used to it all and can deal effectively with all situations as they arrive.
