Excellent story, Dawne. Like you, I was stuck in a job I hated, that made me run crying to the bathroom all the time, and sick to my stomach. After realizing it was ruining my life 24 hours a day, I resigned and temped until I found another job.

I'd just like to add that there's no reason to stay in a job that is ruining your life. Life is too short! Don't let your parents, friends, etc. tell you to "stick it out" because you need a steady paycheck, need a longer-length job on your resume, etc. etc. You have to figure out what matters most to you -- to some people, money is the be all and end all, and they'll stay in a job they hate until they croak.

To me, you can always change your situation to make yourself happier. Sure, it may sound pat, but you can change your rent (move), lower your expenses (budget), and not all temp jobs pay crappy wages. It's really up to you and what you choose to make of your life. I choose not to spend mine wallowing in the dark side.

: I want to let all the trapped people out there know. I spent the last 6 (SIX) years in law firm hell because I thought i HAD to have this job. Small town, small firms , etc. 3 medicines just to go to work, waterproof mascara. LEAVE!!!!!!!!! Please don't perpetuate my myth. Love to hear.
