: : Marian,
: : I waitressed for awhile and it was the most unrewarding job I have ever had. The people I served were rude, hardly ever tipped me and never thanked me. A couple of my fellow waitresses were very young and took a tip off from any table
no matter who's table it was. This caused alot of decension, especially with those of us who were
caring for children at home and needed the money that we had earned. On top of all of that the manager would stand behind us when we were serving or cleaning off the tables and tell us how slow and stupid we were. I no longer work at that place. And I feel for any one who does.
: : All of us have known how hard waitressing is, has been, and will be. Due to the nature of the work, the abuse, long hours, sometimes thankless efforts, it is considered to be a low end job and treated that way. I have met many people who wanted to pickup part time work, performed the waitressing jobs. We, as a country eat out at restaurants more than anyone else in the world, but the servers are treated ugly. I wonder if all the waitresses went on strike, what the people would do...cater the food? ha! dont think so for very long! Thanks for your help Marian.

: :
: : : I know my sister waitresses have stories to tell, angst to vent---How is it this is practically the only "profession" that is not addressed on this site? I am looking for anecdotes, experiences, gripes, etc to compose a "tell-all" Anyone?

: am writing an aarticle on how to survuve being a student supporting yourself on waitressing. would appreciate any tips, tales and any other info.
: thnax.
: camilla
