Most bosses are so self-involved that they have no idea what their employees are doing anyway. This works especially well in the technical field because so many managers have NO technical knowledge. YOu can sit there and be doing anything and they wouldn't know. You could tell them that you're programming something for work and be creating the greatest application to sell outside of work. The application would, of course, make you rich so you could quit your job.
