: Organizing isn't easy, but, it is happening. Just 2 quick examples. In Minnesota, nursing homes are being brought into the fold regularly. It's taking hard work and getting the community involved. In New York City, there's the New York Taxi Workers Alliance. (see MS. S/O issue, page 20).

: : I think a lot of us are voting with our feet, we are out the door at the first opportunity, or making opportunities. I would like to see a union in my business, but I have also seem not one but three different companies shut down in the same town when the workers tried to organize. Is organizing still feasible in today's marketplace
In our retail organization, we have a manager from a certain town and anyone that lives in that certain town will make higher salary if they work for her. Doesn't matter about the experience either.
She has been working at this store for 13 years and yes I have been there too. I've seen things that I don't like....but when u go to upper management there is no open door...It's closed before you say anything.
We have 3 associates that just entered the workplace less than 3 months ago and they are making a better hourly wage than employees that have been on the job for 2-7 years. She promises them that they will be raised again in a few months. I hear this from those 3 associates and if I go to her..she tells me that is a lie. Though other associates feel rejected when asked for a raise....talk about loyalty..honest individual....She is the worst...
