Has anyone worked for an office were there was a lot of profanity, screaming and no respect? Has anyone experienced this before?

Yes! I am experiencing it right now. I got hired on at the University of Arizona, where I had previously worked in another Department that was very professional. The Department that hired me on permanently was a totally different story. I shared an office with a woman who was talking, yelling, gossiping, and/or verbally tearing someone down every second of every day. I would just pray for her to shut up. I would have simply quit, but we are not affluent, we don't even have savings, and we really needed the health insurance. So, I reported it. I could not return to work because the retaliation was so bad. The girl that shares my office, along with a clique of about 9 people, made my life a living hell. I was so nervous everyday, I hated going to work. The investigation is still going on. How it will end is anybodies guess. I'm hoping they simply put me in another Department, since I have proven that I'm a good, reliable employee. I simply cannot go back into that small office, where I am one foot away from that person who called me "Trash!", and racial slurs like, "Wetta" and "Cracker". It's a wonder I got any work done while in that office! At least I don't have to be there for now. I'm on paid Administrative leave while the investigation is going on. I am 45 years old and this is the first I've run across this kind of behavior in an office. So, either I'm real lucky, or it's not the norm, Thank God!
