Hi moderator,

I wish loyalty was more a part of the workplace. Certainly, employers want their employees to be loyal and to keep working as hard as they can without raises and other rewards. But I don't see it going the other way. Employers don't seem to trust their employees, making them sign all kinds of confidentiality agreements and making sure they know that they can be "fired at will." Often, employers let employees know that they could easily fill their position with the next person in line. Sort of, if you don't like it, get out. I think this kind of behavior naturally breaks down the loyalty people feel for their companies. Everyone is out for themselves and workers certainly have more to lose than the fat cats upstairs.

: Your answer triggered a thought; loyalty: the work place culture seems to preach it to workers. "Be loyal to your company!" But not much heard the other way.

: Am I hearing this wrong?

: Does "loyalty" belong in the work place? If yes, how should companies be loyal? How should workers be loyal? How is loyalty earned?
